Frequently asked

Good questions, answered.

Do I need planning permission to renovate my house?

Usually not for internal work in a house. The exceptions are listed buildings, some conservation-area work, and changes to the outside. Structural changes, new electrical circuits, new bathrooms and replacement windows usually need building regulations approval, which we handle.

How long does a renovation take?

From about 5 weeks for one or two rooms to 24–36 weeks for a whole property. You get a programme for your project after the survey.

How much does a renovation cost?

It depends on size, scope and finish. Use our free cost guide for an indicative budget, then we price your home properly after a site survey.

Can we live in the house during the work?

Often yes for room-by-room projects. For whole-property renovations most families move out for part of the work. We'll advise at the survey.

Who manages the trades?

Your project is run by our team under the supervision of an experienced building surveyor, with regular progress updates.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: a 5-year structural guarantee, and we carry £2M public liability cover.
